AbstractAbstract
[en] The current state is evaluated of the theoretical description of nuclear reactions with the aim of outlining the still existing controversy with experimental results. Attention is focused on the phenomenological exciton model and on the quantum-mechanical description of the reaction as a multi-stage process proceeding via the compound nucleus. (S.P.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A modified exciton model of the pre-equilibrium decay is proposed and discussed. It differs from the exciton model in that it allows the projectile to interact only with those target nucleons lying on the last occupied sub-shells. The model is used in the analysis of nucleon spectra from the neutron induced reaction at 14 and 26 MeV. The proposed model is capable of well reproducino. the flat-shaped high energy part of the neutron spectra, a feature not described by the exciton and the hybrid models. The modified exciton model also provides good description of the proton spectra. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A FORTRAN program for complete automatic analysis of complex gamma-ray spectra from semiconductor Ge(Li) detectors to be used on small computers is described. A semiempirical peak shape function and a non-linear least squares method are used and up to 10 peaks may be simultaneously fitted. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Neutron activation cross sections for Ti isotopes at 14.8 MeV were measured using Ge(Li) γ-ray spectroscopy. The linear least-squares method was used to resolve the interfering reactions of neighbouring isotopes. The results obtained are discussed in detail and are compared with pre-equilibrium, equilibrium and semi-empirical calculations. (author)
