[en] A model of EIS response for a system with two consecutive monoelectron transfers is developed in this work. Relevant information on the mechanism of these electrochemical systems is provided by the parametrical identification of the theoretical faradaic impedance function. The kinetic parameters of this model are easily calculated through the calculus of the characteristic points of this function. This calculus allows to interpret the metals anodic dissolution according to the reaction mechanism and, therefore, allows us to establish easily the kinetic and thermodynamic behaviour of these systems with respect to any experimental parameter

[en] This article studies the effect of an ERNiCrMo-3 GTAW root pass on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a nodular cast iron joint when the cover passes are made using the SMAW technique and with Ni electrodes. To have a better understanding of the results, they are compared to the characteristics of a full Ni SMAW weld. This was done before and after an annealing at 900 °C in order to evaluate the influence and possible benefits of this heat treatment. The results show that the presence of a GTAW ERNiCrMo-3 root pass, despite improving penetration, leads to a loss of mechanical properties due to the presence of hard phases in the root pass that even an annealing is not able to eliminate.
[es]Este artículo estudia el efecto de la soldadura de raíz (GTAW) con ERNiCrMo-3 sobre la microestructura y propiedades mecánicas de una unión de fundición nodular cuando las pasadas de la cubierta se realizan con la técnica SMAW con electrodos de Ni. Para tener una mejor comprensión de los resultados, se comparan con las características de una soldadura completa de Ni SMAW. Esto se hizo antes y después de un recocido a 900 °C con el fin de evaluar las influencias y los posibles beneficios de este tratamiento térmico. Los resultados muestran que la presencia de una soldadura de raíz de GTAW ERNiCrMo-3, a pesar de la mejora de la penetración, conduce a una pérdida de propiedades mecánicas en la soldadura de raíz que, incluso con un recocido, no es posible eliminar.
[en] Generation of poly(neutral red) films has been studied by means of the simultaneous measurements of current-potential and mass-potential curves during cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments. It has been proved that the presence of molecular oxygen in the solution increases the amount of polymer deposited on the electrode. Otherwise, using the mass/charge ratio it is possible to obtain quantitative information about the electrodeposition by different procedures. It is observed that this ratio decreases when the amount of polymer electrogenerated increases, except when the polymer is not reduced and oxidised after its electrogeneration. The study of poly(neutral red) by CV and quartz crystal microbalance in solutions without monomer allows to discern between the role of different charged species which are present in the solution: salt cations (Cs+, Na+ and K+), salt anions (NO3-, Cl-, I- and Br-) and hydrated protons that can compensate electrical charge within the film during electrochemical processes
[en] A total of 220 faecal pig and poultry samples, collected from different experimental trials were employed with the aim to demonstrate the suitability of Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS) technology for estimation of gross calorific value on faeces as output products in energy balances studies. NIR spectra from dried and grounded faeces samples were analyzed using a Foss NIRSystem 6500 instrument, scanning over the wavelength range 400-2500 nm. Validation studies for quantitative analytical models were carried out to estimate the relevance of method performance associated to reference values to obtain an appropriate, accuracy and precision. The results for prediction of gross calorific value (GCV) of NIRS calibrations obtained for individual species showed high correlation coefficients comparing chemical analysis and NIRS predictions, ranged from 0.92 to 0.97 for poultry and pig. For external validation, the ratio between the standard error of cross validation (SECV) and the standard error of prediction (SEP) varied between 0.73 and 0.86 for poultry and pig respectively, indicating a sufficiently precision of calibrations. In addition a global model to estimate GCV in both species was developed and externally validated. It showed correlation coefficients of 0.99 for calibration, 0.98 for cross-validation and 0.97 for external validation. Finally, relative uncertainty was calculated for NIRS developed prediction models with the final value when applying individual NIRS species model of 1.3% and 1.5% for NIRS global prediction. This study suggests that NIRS is a suitable and accurate method for the determination of GCV in faeces, decreasing cost, timeless and for convenient handling of unpleasant samples.. (Author)
[en] This study evaluated the effect of organic or chemical fertilization of maize on cow performance, economic outcomes, and greenhouse gas emission. Each type of maize silage according its different fertilization was used in two rations offered to two different groups of nine Friesian-Holstein cows throughout 4 months. The production cost of the maize silage was 8.8% lower for organic than for chemical fertilization. Both silages had similar nutritive value, except a higher concentration of starch in maize with organic fertilization, which allowed a reduction in the proportion of concentrate in the ration, saving 25.3 eurocents per cow in the daily ration, generating a positive balance of 21.8 eurocents per cow and day. The milk yield and composition were unaffected depending on the type of fertilization, whereas the estimation of CH4 and N2O emissions with chemical fertilization was higher than emissions with organic fertilization. As a result, it is possible to increase the sustainability and profitability of dairy production with reuse and recycling of manure.
[en] The aim of this study is to review the treatment of prostate cancer at our center. A description of the entire procedure, involving clinical dosimetry, and procedures for verification of treatment, including physical dosimetry and parallel computing system MSure (Standard Imaging, Inc., Middleton) as part of these procedures. This system is based on the model published by trifuente Yang et al. (Yang et al. 2002) for testing treatments regarding the number of monitor unit (MU) given. In addition, this software has a module for the testing of treatments for intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), which will be analyzed in this study.
