AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors study the effect of saturation pressure on the nonsteady critical heat flux during the boiling of liquid helium in a large volume. The tests were conducted in the pressure range 6-200 kPa and the working section on which the study was performed was a strip of brass foil 0.05 mm thick, 4mm wide, and 65 mm long. The tests were conducted with the working section horizontal, the heated side facing up. The method of study is described. Analysis of the oscillograms obtained in the tests showed that thorough heating of the working section occurred fairly rapidly after connection of the heater, and wall temperature changed negligibly over time immediately before the onset of the boiling crisis

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper reports that hydrodynamic equations have been used with a numerical method to construct the temperature and concentration patterns for a reacting gas. heat transfer in an ideal-displacement reactor is examined along with the structure of the reaction zone for various values of the spiral flow parameters. The temperature patterns in a reacting flow is related to a considerable extent to the marked temperature dependence of the rate, which governs the flame propagation rate (reaction zone) if the reaction is highly exothermic. Under stationary conditions, the reaction zone propagates upstream as a combustion front

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors interpret experimental flow visualization data and construct a flow model for coolant filtration and flow in a layered granular heat exchange material for implementation in a reactor cooling system. Breakaway flow zones close to the ends of a layer in longitudinal-transverse liquid filtration are observed. In a linear approximation the problem of determining the form of the ends of the layer for which there is no flow breakaway is solved. The model is tested against experimental data for water and a nitrogen tetroxide coolant

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors examine the effects of heat treatment (tempering and aging) on the phonon component using Khrovangal alloy, which is a standard material (nickel) with thermal conductivity 9.1 W/m X K at 300 K. Eighteen alloys containing alloying elements were examined at the following levels in mass %: Cr 5-15, V 5-12, Mo 4-5, W 0-4, Re 0-5, Ga 5-12, and Ge 0-3. Three specimens were made from each alloy; the alloys were quenched from 1373 K and aged at 823 K for 5 h. Equations are derived which show that the molybdenum contents in the alloys varied from 4 to 6 percent which makes the reduced content (% Mo) = (%Mo)-4%

AbstractAbstract
[en] Heat transfer coefficients have been measured during the turbulent flow of hydrocarbon fuels at supercritical pressures under conditions in which no deposits occur. In this paper it is shown that a regime of impaired heat exchange can occur when the stream and wall temperature values are lower than the pseudocritical temperature of the fuel. The boundaries of this regime are established and empirical relationships are proposed for calculating the impaired and normal heat exchange

AbstractAbstract
[en] Dissociating nitrogen tetroxide is a promising heat carrier and working medium for nuclear power plants. Gas-dynamic functions play a large role in solving various problems in the dynamics of a reacting system. This paper obtains expressions for various gas-dynamic functions of dissociating nitrogen tetroxide, taking account of the nonideality of the gas
