[en] In the second part of a three-part series about the availability of energy resources the authors of the contribution under consideration give a review on coal and uranium. Both raw materials almost exclusively are used for power production. Coal is the most important raw material. The significance of coal increases world-wide at present. On the other hand, uranium only has a low significance in the power supply. The significance of uranium decreases for years. The nuclear energy is overestimated in the public discussion. The facts show: The world-wide nuclear power phase-out is in progress long ago - entirely without political resolution.

[en] 600 grid-connected photovoltaic systems with a total power of 4 MW_p have supplied more than 3 million kWh of solar electricity to the Swiss electricity grid in 1993. This, and further interesting aspects of photovoltaic energy conversion, are the results of a research project carried out on behalf of the Federal Energy Agence (BEW) and the Swiss Association of the Electric Power Industry (VSE).
