AbstractAbstract
[en] One of the most important problems facing pool type research reactors is purification of its primary coolant from the minerals such as Ca, Al and Mg which are normally found in raw water of fission products produced due to nuclear reactions in reactor core. If these minerals are present in the reactor pool (primary coolant) they will be activated and the activity of primary coolant will go up. Therefore, a water purification device called demineralizer is needed to keep the pool water resistivity at 106 OHM/CC at all times. The reactor at Nuclear Research Center has a demineralizer with a flow of 15 G.P.M. that is unable to purify the reactor primary coolant from activated minerals. Therefore, the reactor operating group decided to design and manufacture a system with a higher capacity of purification with the cooperation of the research center workshops and to install it in the reactor primary coolant, so that the water in the primary coolant be circulated with a flow of 60 G.P.M. constantly. This is quite important since the primary coolant which is used for cooling, moderating shielding and reflection must be completely free of any minerals, otherwise the minerals in the primary coolant are activated due to reactions with neutrons in the core and consequently the activity inside the reactor hall will go up. Therefore a demineralizer with a higher capacity to remove the minerals seems to be necessary. Benefits: 1. The manufacture of a demineralizer and learning about its production technique is a step toward self-sufficiency which could be used in all factories and installations utilizing make up water. 2. Preparation of reactor in order to improve its function and lengthening its useful lifetime. 3. Utilization of this project for education of chemistry and mechanical students are among the goals of this project

AbstractAbstract
[en] One of the most effective methods of prospecting for minerals, mainly uranium, is exploration geochemistry. Geochemical exploration, in comparison to other methods, e.g. geological and geophysical exploration is advantageous in areas of thick overburden. Uranium, with its wide diffusion due to its high valence, can easily be transported a long distance from its source by the intermediate of surface and ground waters and then be precipitated or absorbed by fine materials. The principle of sampling is based on the evaluation of the elemental distribution of uranium in secondary environment. Each sample medium is described in detail. Sample collection was carried out in several steps from reconnaissance to detailed phases which finally resulted the anomalous zones of metal sought. After each step of sampling, geochemical samples were analysed and the results were evaluated. The latter are the two main bases of exploration geochemistry which will be discussed later on. Finally, to demonstrate the important role of geochemistry in uranium exploration in Iran, some studied areas which have gone under the mentioned method are briefly discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Conceptual designs of some fusion power reactors use high magnetic fields for plasma confinement. The coils which produce the fields are subjected to very large electro-magnetic forces. In addition, thermal stresses may develop in the coils and coil support structure during cooldown to the temperature required for super conductivity of coil. This study has been directed toward finding stresses in the coil case and support structure, for one such fusion reactor (of a Torsatron Type). The coil is of a fairly complicated ''Toroidal helix'' geometry. Use was made of a general purpose finite element code, ADINA

AbstractAbstract
[en] The accuracy and precision of trace elements analysis of standard materials can be determined by the cooperation of different laboratories by means of intercomparison of the results. A Coordinated research programme based on above aim has been established by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In this programme 43 countries have participated for the''Intercomparison of Minor and Trace Elements in IAEA Animal Bone, H-5''supplied by the Agency. The Chemistry Department of the Nuclear Research Centre of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (NRC) also has joiend this programme and the results have shown good agreement with those of others as presented in a paper at the research coordination meeting for the corrdinated research programme on the''Comparative Methods for the Study of Trace Elements in Human Nutrition'' held in Delft, Netherlands 25-27 November 1981.
