AbstractAbstract
[en] The excitation functions of the reactions 12C(3He,α)11C and 12C(3He,d)13N have been measured in 100 to 200 keV steps in the energy region between 0.4 and 14.0 MeV considering all perceptible sources of errors. The absolute cross sections have been determined by measuring the annihilation radiation of positron emitting nuclei produced during the irradiation. The precision of the determination is in the order of 10%. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The (13C,13N) reaction has been studied at E/A = 50 MeV/u on 12C, 40Ca, and 58Ni targets at extremely forward angles including zero degree. Strong excitation of the ΔTz = +1 analog of the giant dipole resonance is observed, and its angular distribution measured over the range 00 < θlab < 30. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The radiative proton capture reaction on /sup 15/N was measured over the energy region E/sub p/ = 20--90 MeV. Presented are experimental differential cross sections at θ/sub γ/ = 600 for captures populating the ground and various excited states of /sup 16/0. Differential cross sections and analyzing-power angular distributions are presented at a proton energy of E/sub p/ = 49.69 MeV. Calculations from a phenomenological direct-semidirect and a more detailed relativistic model describe cross sections well, but are less satisfactory in describing analyzing powers. Results of the energy-dependence measurements show that there are giant resonances built on all the excited states investigated

AbstractAbstract
[en] A short review of series of calculations on 7Li scattering is presented. Spin-dependent interactions between 7Li and spherical nuclei are investigated by folding models. Contributions of 7Li virtual excitations to the interactions are discussed. Cross sections and analyzing powers calculated by the folding interactions in the coupled-channel framework are compared with the experimental data on 26Mg, 58Ni and 120Sn targets. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Recent results in the study of heavy ion resonances in the systems 12C + 12C and 16O + 16O will be discussed. Detailed angular distribution measurements for the inelastic channel 12C(12C, 12C)12C(O+, 7.65 MeV) have been made in the region of a prominent structure at Ec.m. = 29.0 MeV. Our analysis shows that two partial waves l = 16 h and 18 h contribute significantly to this structure. Angular distribution studies have also resulted in several spin assignments to structures observed in 16O(16O, 16O)16O(O2+, 6.05 MeV). Angular correlation measurements have been performed for the inelastic channel 16O(16O, 16O)16O(3-, 6.13 MeV) in the energy range between Ec.m. = 26.5 MeV and 43 MeV where four wide structure peaks have been observed. The correlation results suggest that at least some of these structures are dominated by single l values and they narrow down the range of acceptable values. The three structure peaks at 28 MeV, 35 MeV, and 40 MeV show strong alignment of the spin with the orbital angular momentum while the peak at 30 MeV corresponds to a nonaligned configuration. AbstractAbstract
[en] The 12C - 12C resonances have been investigated via the reactions 12C(12C, αα)16O and 12C(12C, α8Be)12C using beams from the Oxford Folded Tandem. The two lighter reaction products were detected in coincidence at angular separations around 180 deg C in the centre of mass using position sensitive detectors. Kinematic reconstruction of the three body final state yielded α - α and α - 8Be angular correlations which were sensitive to the spins of the resonances decaying to the ground states of 16O and 12C respectively. Many of the spin measurements confirm earlier assignments based on studies of other decay channels. Some new 16+ assigments are made. The results are discussed in the context of a recent theoretical interpretation based on the Bloch-Brink α-cluster model. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The elastic and inelastic scattering of neutrons from a water sample has been investigated at 9 energies between 6 and 15 MeV using the D(d,n)3He source reaction. Special care was taken with the Monte Carlo simulation of sample size effects and multiple scattering corrections and the efficiency determination of the NE213 detectors. Uncertainties of 3...8 % were obtained for the differential elastic cross section resulting in 2.5 % uncertainties for the angle-integrated cross section σel which was normalized with respect to the simultaneously measured n-p scattering. The differential cross sections show deviations of up to a factor of two from the ENDF/B-V data file, whereas deviations of up to 15 % were found in σel. The inelastic scattering to the first pair of states in 16O at 6.1 MeV could also be extracted, but with larger uncertainties due to kinematic interference with elastically scattered neutrons from the D(d,np)D reaction. AbstractAbstract
[en] αt angular correlation functions have been measured for the process 12C(7Li,t)16O(α)12C corresponding to the levels 20.9 MeV (7-), 16.3 MeV (6+), and 14.6 MeV (5-) of the 16O nucleus. The measurements were made for a 7Li beam energy 45 MeV in the complete range of angles (0--1800 ). The measured functions are well described by squares of Legendre polynomials of order 7, 6, and 5, respectively. The suppression of the intensity of the first maximum in the correlation function for the 20.9-MeV level which was observed in the reaction (6 Li,d) in our previous study was not observed in the (7 Li,t) reaction

AbstractAbstract
[en] This contribution reports on the positive evidence for a 'soft' real photon signal in 450 GeV/c proton collisions on light nuclear targets (Be, Al) carried out within the HELIOS experiment at the CERN-SPS. The observed signal at low pT (< 0.03 GeV/c) confirms previous measurements and is compared to the low mass dilepton continuum. The photon yield is approximately 5 times higher than the level of hadronic bremsstrahlung and depends steeper than linear on the charged multiplicity. (orig.)
