AbstractAbstract
[en] Recommendations for toughness testing and evaluation procedures for weldments are given in this paper. For testing aspects, two testing methods are outlined, micro-flat tensile tests and the δ5 testing technique. The micro-flat tensile tests are extremely useful to measure tensile properties for the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) of multipass welds and very thin weld regions such as laser beam or electron beam and it is rather universal. It can be applied to any type of test pieces as well as to structural components with surface breaking cracks. These two test methods can provide efficient tools for tensile and fracture testing of metallic materials joined by fusion welding technology including high power beam welding processes. For toughness evaluation aspects, the J estimation procedures for mismatched specimens are reviewed, including a summary of a new proposal for best estimates of the mismatch on the J integral. The new procedure covers not only weld metal cracks but also HAZ cracks. Finally some recommendations are given for further development. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The article confirms a significant growth of the share of automatic modular arc welding equipment in the modern welding practice. A possibility to assemble the required equipment proceeding from a specific production objective of the customer is noted as a primary advantage of modular systems. composition, performance and design features of modular domestic-make complex are considered. 1 ref

[en] Laser material processing technology has deeply penetrated into various industrial applications since 1966 when the first industrial CO2 laser was built. Since then the versatility and importance of lasers in material processing has been gaining recognition and acceptance with the result that many industries in the developed countries utilize laser systems. This has encouraged further investigations into the improvement of material processing methods using laser to overcome the presently confronted difficulties. Laser is the versatile tool both for metals and non-metals and as a single heat source it can perform multi functions which is not possible by any other heat source. (author). 71 refs., 32 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Maskless patterning of aluminium has been achieved by using visible light from a copper bromide vapor laser for pyrolytic decomposition of trimethylaluminium (TMA) and trimethylamine alane (TMAA). A silicon monocrystalline wafer was used as a substrate. The deposition was carried out at different process parameters (partial pressure of the precursors, laser power and scanning speed). The analysis of the resultant stripes included scanning electron microscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, Talystep and electrical resistance measurements. The crystalline structure of the layers showed well-defined grains for both precursors. The Auger electron spectra indicated pure aluminium layers with small quantities of oxygen and carbon for stripes deposited from TMAA while those obtained from TMA were more contaminated. The difference in the layers composition for the used precursors resulted in their resistivity values. The low resistivities of aluminium stripes deposited from TMAA (up to 4.0 μΩ.cm) makes it promising precursor for metalization with aluminium and especially for chemical vapor deposition enhanced with pulsed visible laser. [en] Main parameters of continuous casting of steel type 12Kh18N10T have been determined for a horizontal casting machine with two-side withdrawal of castings. The process makes it possible to produce slab billets without trimming and 5to obtain then rolled products which meet the requirements of standards. Horizontal casting machine allows one to reach a good yield higher by 5% compared to that for vertical or radial machines

[en] Mechanical activation of CeO2-ZrO2-SiO2 mixtures was performed in a high energetic vibratory mill with WC lining and grinding media. It was shown that in air atmosphere the reduction of Ce4+ into Ce3+ took place at 1400 C. The Ce3+ ion is stable in air in the form of Ce2(WO4)3 contrary to the Ce3+ ion in Ce-silicates. (orig.)

[en] Beryllium is a light, rigid, but toxic material, often used in aeronautical, space and military applications. Many assembling methods have been developed to create high strength joints over a wide temperature range. Moreover, specific equipments allow to confine and assemble the beryllium with high accuracy. This know-up can also be used to study new beryllium alloys. (authors)

[en] An analysis of typical steam turbine and gas turbine rotor failures is carried out. On the base of the rotors different failure causes and their mode of occurring, an evaluation of the weldability of the Cr-Mo-V steels and the classification of the common turbine rotors repair possibilities is presented. The developing of specific in-situ welding repair process of the damaged 20.65 MW gas turbine rotor is described. After repair, the rotor was put back into service. (Author) 15 refs
