AbstractAbstract
[en] The multi row detectors is an advance in the computerized tomography evolution, and the volumetric imaging must be considered as a new perspective in medical imaging. This must not make forget that the irradiation is more important because of the thinner cuts, in spite of the efforts made by the constructors to reduce the dosimetry. (N.C.)

Proceedings of the symposium on bio-medical engineering and nuclear medicine2000
Proceedings of the symposium on bio-medical engineering and nuclear medicine2000
AbstractAbstract
[en] Performance parameters of a pair of fan beam collimators with Varicam dual head SPECT system were evaluated. All the parameters were found to be within acceptable limits. However, the value of COR offset with one of the collimators was found to be beyond tolerance limit. SPECT acquisition of a standard PET/SPECT performance phantom at comparable count level, time per frame, number of angular steps and angular ranges were acquired on Varicam dual head nuclear medicine gamma camera imaging system. The fan beam acquisition was done in circular orbit whereas contouring facility and cold lesions could be better resolved with fan beam than parallel hole collimator. The overall image quality was also better with fan beam collimator when the object was adequately covered within fan beam during acquisition. (author)

Radiopharmaceuticals and hospital radiopharmacy practices: course manual for accreditation/certification of hospital radiopharmacists2000
Radiopharmaceuticals and hospital radiopharmacy practices: course manual for accreditation/certification of hospital radiopharmacists2000
AbstractAbstract
[en] All the radiopharmaceuticals are radioisotope labelled compounds (in organic as well as inorganic forms) which are formulated in an aqueous medium. It is known that all the types of ionizing radiations like alpha, beta and gamma, when absorbed by the matter cause radiolytic reactions. So the radiopharmaceutical formulations are also susceptible to these damaging effects. Since in almost all the formulations, water is the medium of dissolution, the major interaction of radiations is with water molecules and hence most of the radiolytic damages are due to radiolysis of water and the reactions of the species formed by the radiolysis of water

[en] Radiopharmaceuticals by virtue of their radioactivity and their organ/tissue specificity, are extensively used in diagnostic and therapeutic applications. They are administered to patients either as parental solutions (injections) or oral preparations. Radiopharmaceuticals of consistently high and uniform quality are essential for their safe and efficacious use in nuclear medicine procedures in hospitals. The following discussion is confined to broad guidelines for the preparation of 99mTc radiopharmaceuticals in the hospital. A brief mention about the other radiopharmaceuticals handled in the hospital radiopharmacy is also included

AbstractAbstract
[en] Quality control testing of radiopharmaceuticals and the results found satisfactory alone are not enough, quality assurance measures should be carefully built in. Alertness and conscious quality performance, at all the stages of formulation, processing and testing is essential

Radiopharmaceuticals and hospital radiopharmacy practices: course manual for accreditation/certification of hospital radiopharmacists2000
AbstractAbstract
[en] Radiopharmaceuticals by definition are pharmaceuticals labelled with radionuclides, formulated either as injections (sterile and apyrogenic) or oral preparations, under conditions which satisfy both pharmaceutical and radiation safety requirement. The principles and procedures for the surveillance measures and the care required to be observed in hospital radiopharmacy, though much of the aspects are quite valid for centralized and industrial radio pharmacies are described
