AbstractAbstract
[en] The proposition that the emission nebulae S254, S255, S257, S261 and S269 are physically related to the old SNR- The Origem Loop- is examined. Optical radial velocities obtained by the Fabry Perot method are given over the regions S261 and S269 while those of S254, 255 and 257 are published earlier. The kinematic distances of the H II regions as well as the photometric distances of their ionizing stars are discussed. On the basis of these distances it is concluded that of these five H II regions only S261 may belong to the Origem Loop. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We discuss some cosmological implications of the hypothetical gauge boson associated with a new low energy U(1) symmetry with non-trivial mixing with the U(1) of electromagnetism. In particular we point out a new relation between the frequency dependent oscillation in the temperature of the cosmic microwave background radiation and primordial energy density fluctuations. It suggests a new way to look for cosmic anisotropies. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Ten-dimensional cosmological solutions of the coupled supergravity-Yang-Mills equations are described for which spacetime at late times has the form M4 x delta/R, where M4 is a Friedman-like four-dimensional universe and delta/R is a compact coset space with constant scale parameter. In these models Newton's constant, the W-mass, and the fine structure constant do not vary appreciably with time during observable epochs. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Possibility is treated to detect the baryon number nonconservation at high energies √ s > or approximately 100 TeV) by means of future accelerators, even if the corresponding decays cannot be observed. It is shown that the detection is possible for usual fermions only if the baryon number breaking is due to effective nonrenormalizable multifermion interactions whose cross sections increase as powers of energy. Relevance of such interactions to the intrinsic structure of leptons and quarks is discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is shown that in the relativistic quark model the quark exchange and Landshof graphs provide with non-vanishing contributions to all spin-flip amplitudes of elastic scattering at large angles. This fact is due to presence of terms violating the helicity conservation at hadron-quarks transition vertices in the relativistic wave functions. Polarization effects in inclusive processes at x → 1 are analysed in the framework of the model considered

AbstractAbstract
[en] Asymptotic expressions for total, forward (current fragmentation region) and backward (target fragmentation region) mean multiplicities in deep-inelastic processes have been obtained in the framework of the perturbative QCD. An ambiguity in interpretation of these quantities in terms of the fragmentation properties of partons is discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] We consider under what conditions any narrow neutral resonance, particularly the recently reported state xi(2.2), could be a Higgs particle, either a fundamental boson or a composite technicolor state. A number of tests are summarized including what is expected in tau decay, b-quark decay, Zsup(O) decays, branching ratios and properties of xi(2.2) decay, and production at hadron machines. Implications for the standard model, technicolor, and supersymmetry are discussed. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We present the results of a comparative study of the properties of SU(3) gauge field configurations generated by the Metropolis algorithm and by a modified heat-bath algorithm. Measurement of the average plaquette and of the Wilson line for ensembles of configurations generated by the two methods are compared and suggest that the modified heat-bath algorithm is significantly better at avoiding persistence of metastable states. We also report the result of a recomputation of the pion propagator on an 83 x 16 lattice at g2 = 1.0 using an ensemble of 40 configurations generated by the modified heat-bath algorithm. We find that correlations between particle masses and Wilson line expectation values are reduced and we estimate the critical value of the hopping parameter Ksub(c) = 0.156 +- 0.001. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A method of strong-coupling expansion of lattice QCD is presented. The effective action for mesons is obtained up to first order in 1/g2N. It is shown that for Susskind-type fermions, chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken as U(nsub(f)) x U(nsub(f)) -> U(nsub(f)) (diagonal). At low energy, the effective action is shown to have a form similar to the non-linear sigma-model. The vacuum expectation value < anti psipsi>, the pion decay constant Fsub(π) and the pion mass msub(π) are calculated. It is verified that the usual PCAC relation is satisfied. (orig.)
