AbstractAbstract
[en] Steam generator replacement at Turkey Point units 3 and 4 became necessary because of continued tube degradation. It was decided to remove the steam generator lower assemblies, including the tube bundles, through the existing equipment hatch below the operating deck. The upper assemblies would remain in the containment. The choice of methods, approval for repair and new facilities required are discussed together with construction sequence, preparations inside the containment, channel head cut and installation of the new assemblies. Lessons learned from the unit 3 replacement were used to reduce the unit 4 replacement schedule by more than a month. (UK)
