Status of the TOP counter R and D

Description

This report summarizes the present status of the TOP (Time-Of-Propagation) counter. First, present achievement are presented; mainly its basic optical property, newly investigated simplified version of the counter, and studies of the single-photon and position sensitive photodetectors. Then some discussions and remarks are given. (author)
