Preparation of saccharides nonspecifically labelled with 14C radioisotope. Part II
Description
A method was developed of preparing D-[U-14C]galactose from D-[U-14C]glucose. The initial methyl-α-D-[U-14C]glucopyranoside is oxidized with bromine and the corresponding 4-oxo derivative reduced with sodium borohydride. The resulting methyl-α-D-[U-14C]galactopyranoside is hydrolyzed with trifluoroacetic acid into D-[U-14C]galactose. D-[U-14C]glucuronic acid and methyl-α-D-[U-14C]mannopyranoside may be obtained as by-products. (author)
