Preparation of saccharides uniformly labelled with 14C radioisotope. Part III
Description
The techniques of preparing D-[U-14C]arabinose from D-[U-14C]glucose and D-[U-14C]lyxose from D-[U-14C]galactose were developed, based on the Ruff method of aldose decomposition. Improvement of the original principle consists in performing the reactions without separation of intermediate products, i.e., salts corresponding to aldonic acids, and in the use of a new efficient catalyst, iron(III) trifluoroacetate which allows significant increase in radiochemical yields.
