Radioecological situation in the Republic of Tajikistan

The book summarises the results of the monitoring works carried out by the inspectors of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. The analysis of the radioecological condition on the territory of cities and regions of Tajikistan is given. On the basis of the results of the analysis, radioecological maps of the monitored areas have been prepared, which are of practical interest for the national economic planning. The book presents the methodology for assessing the radiation-hygienic situation in tailings piles and the method for determining the radon content in the atmosphere. The assessment of the radon hazard in the vicinity of tailings piles is given. The potential hazard of the tailings for the population living near the tailings was assessed. The analysis of building materials and mineral raw materials used in construction and industry has also been carried out. The book is intended for scientific, engineering and technical personnel dealing with radiation safety issues.
