3.2. Radionuclides in construction materials in Tajikistan

Creators

Description

Control of the impact of natural radionuclides is of particular importance for the Republic of Tajikistan. Many types of construction materials, both imported and domestic raw materials used in the industry for the production of construction materials (stones, refractory materials, refractory enamels, pigments, granites, cements, etc.) have threshold values of the current radiation safety standards in terms of the content of natural radionuclides. In the Republic of Tajikistan, work on radiation monitoring of construction materials has begun, the system of effective radiation control is being created, and urgent measures are being taken to ensure radiation safety at all stages of the technological process of production. However, it has been found that the normative value of specific activity in construction mixtures can be easily calculated from the known values of raw materials, taking into account their mass shares and the peculiarities of production technologies. This is an important fact, which indicates the possibility of controlling the radiation quality of construction products by excluding or reducing the proportion of highly radioactive raw materials in construction materials and products.
