The road to a nuclear weapons convention

Creators

Description

The prerequisite for achieving a convention to abolish nuclear weapons is to be able to address the major reasons normally advanced against nuclear disarmament. The approach to elimination and prohibition has to be based on concurrent definitive movement along a number of mutually reinforcing and converging pathways that seek to: establish a process of de-legitimization of nuclear weapons so as to make nuclear weapons redundant and unusable; progressively narrow the scope and development of the role and deployment of such weapons; achieve deep reductions down to zero levels; and evolve an international security framework for pos-nuclear weapon world
