Ion trapping studies for INDUS-I
Description
Ion trapping studies for INDUS-1 have been carried out by considering linear as well as nonlinear electric field of an electron bunch. The studies reveal that most of the ions will remain trapped in the vacuum chamber. The concentration of ions in INDUS-1 will be maintained low like other storage rings by applying DC and AC voltages and frequency ranges have been found out for the optimum locations of the clearing electrodes. In these calculations, longitudinal motion of the ions has also been taken into account by considering the three dimensional field of the electron brunch.
