Description
We have calculated total cross section (TCS) for Barium atom by electron as well as positron for the transition 1D2 backward arrow 1P1 by using the close coupling calculation within the framework of R-matrix theory. The validity of this approach is that it is not only satisfying the conditions in nuclear physics but also useful in atomic and molecular physics. Using R-matrix theory, we found that our results give remarkable outcome at lower energy levels. This further satisfied the present work when compared with other theoretical work. To the best of our knowledge no experimental data has been reported so far for this transition for comparison purpose. We have realized that this illustration proves to be better model for the calculation of total cross section for Barium. The detailed results shall be presented at the venue of Conference. (author)
