Description
The design of ion source was studied by computer simulations and experimentally on the thermal ionization mass spectrometer. The experimental data obtained was found to be in good agreement with the computer simulation. Based on this study, an ion source with modified design was developed which enhances the transmission of the ion source by more than two times as compared with the conventional design. The peak shapes obtained validates the satisfactory performance of the modified ion source. The modified design also exhibit better electrical insulation capability than the earlier version which enable the use of higher acceleration potential for the ion beams resulting into further enhancement of the transmission
