Proceedings of the twenty eighth ISMAS symposium cum workshop on mass spectrometry

  • 1. Fuel Chemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Mass spectrometry has become an indispensable analytical technique due to its sensitivity, specificity and universality. Over the years, mass spectrometry has played a key role in a variety of scientific disciplines. Several diverse fields such as archaeology, chemistry, cosmochemistry, environmental science, forensic science, geology, life science, material science, nuclear science, petroleum industry, pharmaceutical science and physics have gained immensely from this analytical tool. Rapid progress in the field of mass spectrometry in the recent years has led to the advent of new ion sources, improvements in existing mass analyzers and. introduction of hybrid mass analyzers. As the technique continues to advance, many new applications have emerged especially in biomedical field in view of the improved sensitivity, speed and versatility.
