Statistical analysis of the behaviour of the mechanical equipment of EDF's Power Plants - Evaluation of the availability and safety of thermal and nuclear units

Description
EDF's Studies and Research Department has realized a statistical analysis of the behaviour of the mechanical equipment of its power plants during these last ten years, based on operation reports of these power plants. The reliability, the failure rate, the mean preparation time et the mean good operation times for reheater, power turbines, pumps and vessels of the various EDF plant levels (LP, 125 and 250 MW) have been evaluated. From these studies, two calculation methods have been derived, in order to evaluate the global availability and the operating safety of thermal and nuclear units. A numerical application is given for cooling systems of the Phenix fast neutron plant and for one Super Phenix options
