Click chemistry mediated synthesis of prussian blue anchored carbon black for electrochemical detection of H2, O2

  • 1. Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Hydrogen peroxide (H2, O2,) is one of the important reactive oxygen species, produced from oxygen metabolism in cells and is usually involved in cell growth and signal transduction. Level of H2, O2, is an important biological parameter in monitoring and maintaining the physiological balance of a living cell. Herein, prussian blue anchored carbon black (CB-PB) was synthesized via thiol-ene 'click chemistry' for the electrochemical detection of H2, O2, In CB-PB, PB rendered peroxidase-like activity while CB with large surface area and high conductivity efficiently enhanced the catalytic performance. Electrochemical studies, XRD, UV-visible and FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the anchoring of PB on the CB. The composite exhibited good catalytic performance toward H2, O2, detection with sensitivity of 620 μA/mM/cm2and detection limit of 0.61μM with a linear range of 0.01-10 mM (author)
