Description
An assay method using transmission-compensated emission computed tomograph, developed to measure radioactivity in unprocessed miscellaneous waste, has been applied to the measurement of radioactivity in heavier processed miscellaneous waste packed in a 200-liter drum. As a result of verification tests using various simulated waste samples, the method was found to effectively compensate for non-uniformities in waste up to an average density of 4 g/cm3. A simplified method using only emission-computed tomography was also found applicable to lighter processed miscellaneous waste. (author)
