Description

The responsibilities of an operator with respect to the radiation protection of radiation workers and members of the public are discussed. Here the title of operator includes three groups of people - Owners/Managers, i.e. the person(s) or organisation with the administrative responsibility for the particular operation, for example the owner of an X-ray analysis unit or the manager of a uranium mine; Radiation Safety Officers, i.e. the person(s) with specialist knowledge in radiation protection who provides the interaction between the owner/manager and the radiation worker; and the Radiation workers, i.e. those persons who physically undertake the operation.
