Description

After a short history of radiation protection, the relationships between man and environment are considered. In particular it is discussed if the protection of man assures also the protection of the environment. Then the evolution of radioecological research is recorded with some details concerning the major goals achieved. Finally, the present situation of the radiation protection and the environment is considered emphasizing the important influence of politicians and authorities with relevant consequences on future standards or safety for the public.
