Performance of Panasonic ZP-1460 electronic personal dosemeter under exposure conditions likely to be found at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant

Description
A study on the performance of the Panasonic ZP-1460 electronic personal dosemeter, the model used in the aftermath of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in March 2011, was conducted under actual exposure situations likely encountered in the plant. The tests pertained to (1) the dose rate response over dose rates >100 mSv/h and (2) the angular response on an anthropomorphic phantom exposed to the rotational and isotropic irradiation geometries. The test results confirmed that the dosemeter provides Hp(10) as a reasonably close estimate of the effective dose for any exposure geometries. The dosemeter response data evaluated in this study can be utilized for converting dosemeter readings to the absorbed dose to any organs and tissues for epidemiologic purposes. (author)
