Isomer research for nuclei at the A=180 region

Description
Nuclear isomers are excited states in nuclei, with comparatively long half-lives. At the A=180 region, isomers arise due to conservation of the projected component (K) of the total angular momentum onto the nuclear symmetry axis. Nuclear structure of such isomers is discussed in this paper. In addition, applications using nuclear isomers with advanced photons are also discussed in relation to astrophysics and a fringe field between atomic and nuclear physics. (author)
