Description

An overview of collaborative work at the Joint Institute for Heavy Ion Research is given. The two principal objects of investigation in which the author was involved were the geometric collective model of nuclear structure applied to shape transitions and shape coexistence in nuclei, and microscopic mean field theories, both relativistic and nonrelativistic, with a special interest in their parameter sets and their usefulness for extrapolation
