Nuclear pumped electronic transition laser studies
Description
This paper discusses three subjects: a) an outline of experiments and theoretical considerations for determining the production efficiency of excited states using high energy fission fragments, b) calculation of the excited state production rate required for efficient laser operation, and c) indication of the desirability to match the fission power pulse shape to the laser system considered. KrF* is used as an example in parts b) and c)
