Strain-endurance results under pure bending conditions
Description
This paper discusses the strain-endurance results for austenitic stainless steel gathered from a series of experiments conducted under fully reversed bending conditions both at room and elevated temperatures. Strain-controlled fatigue tests were carried out at different strain ranges. Number of cycles till the failure of specimens defined their fatigue lifetime. Output values in the form of Bending Moment and Angle of Bend were measured at about of life of fatigue life. Strain-endurance curve was developed for this specific material by plotting number of cycles to failure (Nf) against total stain range (delta epsilon t), plastic strain range (delta epsilon p) and elastic strain range (delta epsilon e). Results were found well within a factor of two of push-pull endurance that is not unusual if tests are performed under nominally identical conditions. (author)
