Description
Undulator magnets are becoming increasingly important for the production of high brightness synchrotron radiation from storage rings and for free electron lasers. The spectral properties of the radiation and the gain of the free electron laser depend strongly on the undulator characteristics and on the imperfections and errors in the magnetic field, and these are related to the technique of magnet construction and the measurement of their fields. In this conference the latest developments in this area are reviewed with emphasis on construction and measurement techniques and on the analysis of emitted spectra. The problems related to high magnetic fields as well as to field quality are treated both experimentally and theoretically. Refs, figs and tabs
