The condition analysis for wind farm achievement at the Black Sea Constanta harbour
Description
The wind potential of the Romanian Black Sea coast is discussed. Wind turbines with a total capacity of 40 MW will be installed at North Constanta port dikes. A wind farm with 500-600 KW horizontal axis turbines will be situated on a site of 4 km length. According to statistical data for Constanta North dike the specific output per swept rotor area could amount to about 362 W/m2 at average wind speed of 6.2 m/s and a height of 30 m. The entire wind turbine farm will supply more than 41 GWh/year energy production which will be enough for the yearly electricity consumption of the port. Total investment costs of 1065 ECU/KW (734 ECU/KW for the equipment) are estimated. The cost of electricity will come to 0.05 ECU/KWh. Another wind turbine farm of more than 20 MW capacity will be situated on the South Constanta dike. (author)
