Description
This paper describes the studies on the partitioning of actinides from high level liquid waste of PUREX origin employing supported liquid membrane technique. TOPO in n-dodecane is used as carrier phase. Transport studies are carried out with 241Am under different experimental conditions to optimize the parameters such as feed acidity, carrier concentration, uranium, Nd(III) and salt concentration in the feed. A mixture of citric acid, formic acid and hydrazine hydrate is used as receiving phase. Under the optimized conditions transport of 241Am is studied from a uranium depleted synthetic PHWR-HLLW and finally the technique is used for the partitioning of alpha emitters from an actual research reactor-HLLW. Results indicate that TOPO based SLM technique can be used for the partitioning of alpha emitters from uranium depleted-HLLW. (author)
