K+ → π+νν-bar at JHF

  • 1. High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Tsukuba, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

The K+ → π+νν-bar decay is a flavour changing neutral current process and is strongly suppressed in the Standard Model. The branching ratio is estimated to be extremely small as 1 x l0-10 with small uncertainty of theoretical calculation. Measurement of the branching ratio with high statistics brings accurate estimation of an element of the Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix, |Vtd|. Requirements for the accurate measurement of the branching ratio of the K+ → π+νν-bar decay at JHF and a possible approach are discussed. (author)
