Breakup of light ions
Description
A brief introduction to the breakup reaction and its relation to the capture reaction is presented. A sketch of various astrophysical sites with insufficient knowledge of important nuclear cross sections, where coulomb breakup could be used, is given. In addition to a glimpse of various reactions relevant to the nucleosynthesis in the Big Bang scenario, the present status of the coulomb dissociation approach is critically reviewed. 15 refs., 11 figs
