Description

Since 10 years of operation the 800 MeV storage ring BESSY in Berlin delivers VUV- and soft x-ray radiation with a very high reliability to more than 40 experimental stations in 3 laboratories dedicated to basic research, lithography, and radiometry. Recent new developments in the production of circularly polarized light employing a crossed undulator as well as a grazing incidence monochromator SX700 modified for use of off-plane dipole radiation are presented. First synchrotron radiation-based results on a promising new soft x-ray monochromator crystal YB66 and on very thin W/B4C multilayers to be used for monochromatization in the difficult photon energy region between 1 and 2 keV are also shown.
