Solvent extraction studies of plutonium(IV) by di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (HDEHP) in room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL)

  • 1. Fuel Chemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

The solvent extraction of Pu(IV) from aqueous nitric acid into Room Temperature Ionic Liquid (RTIL) by HDEHP(di-2-ethyl hexyl phosphoric acid) was carried from 1M nitric acid medium. The least square analysis of the extraction data indicated that one HDEHP takes part in the extraction reaction. The stoichiometry of the extracted species in the RTIL phase can be written as (Pu H(DEHP)2)3+. (author)
