Description
The presentation German Project in North-West Russia by Detlef Mietann from Energiewerke Nord, Germany, reported on the completion of construction of the Facility for Long Term Storage of Reactor Compartments at Saida Bay. The facility had already received the first defueled reactor compartments. The total capacity would be 120 submarine compartments. This €300m project was the biggest amongst the CEG members. The effort included many infrastructure projects: manufacturing of heavy-lift and transportation equipment for relocation of reactor compartments; construction of pontoons and tug boats; modernisation of a floating dock; creation of RW accounting and control system and automated radiation control system; and arrangement of physical protection.
