Overview of the NuScale design and licensing
Description
In January 2017, NuScale submitted the first SMR Design Certification Application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). As a result of extensive pre-application engagement with the regulator, the application was documented within 60 days. The review is now more than 18 months in progress with the most extensive NRC review phase now successfully completed and on schedule for issuance of a Final Safety Evaluation report at the end of 2020. NuScale continues to build on two key initiatives, its NuScale Diverse Energy Platform and advancements in NuScale plant resilience.
