The HAKONE VIII Symposium hosted by University of Tartu at Puhajarve, Estonia, is the eighth in the series originated in Hakone (Japan) in 1987. It follows along the lines of the previous meetings providing the participants with the opportunity to present the progress in high-pressure low temperature plasma chemistry and physics in resent years. As the plasma chemistry is of increasing interest to industrial technologies and environmental applications, the HAKONE symposiums are appreciated as events that bridge the gap between basic research and applications
