Quantification and isotope ratio measurement of boron by ICP-TOF-MS after its pyrohydrolytic extraction from U3Si2-Al fuel

  • 1. Radioanalytical Chemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

A novel and reagent free quantitative separation procedure based on pyrohydrolysis technique was developed for quantitative recovery of B from U3Si2-Al matrix followed by its analysis employing ICP-MS. The method for B determination was validated by an independent spectrophotometric technique. The developed method was applied successfully for the analysis of three U3Si2-Al samples. The CAIS technique was applied for correcting the mass bias on B isotope ratio measurement thereby improving the precision to 0.2% RSD
