Comparative evaluation of measures for greenhouse gas emissions reduction in energy supply and energy consumption sectors
Description
This survey is conducted in the Energoproekt Company, Sofia (BG). Costs of measures leading to gas emissions abatement applied separately in energy supply and energy consumption sectors for the period 2000-2020 are calculated and compared. By a technical-economic evaluation of energy supply alternatives an optimal combination of measures leading to CO2 emissions reductions is proposed. It would allow for CO2 reduction by 23,7 mill tons and prime cost reduction by $19,83 per ton reduced emissions. In the energy consumption sector economic activities with greater energy efficiency and less cost are considered. A base scenario for macro-economic development of Bulgaria til 2020 is discussed. It suggests fast restructuring of economy, closing of inefficient enterprises and fast application of modern technologies. This will result in efficient energy consumption and will bring a CO2 emissions reduction of 16.2 mill tons which is 68% of all possible reductions in energy consumption sector. The price costs of saved electricity for each measure applied in households and industry are calculated. 3 refs., 2 tabs., 1 fig
