Description

Four Plates were irradiated in HFR Petten at a maximum surface heat fluxes of 140 and 250 W.cm-2 for enrichments of 20% and 35%, respectively. The experiment was stopped after only two cycles after failure of the two 35%- enriched plates. Analysis of postirradiation examinations and the evaluation of the experiment operating conditions have established high cladding temperature as the root-cause of the failure. (author)
