Description

The Meeting was attended by more than 190 participants from 27 countries, which certainly certifies the significance of this Meeting for owners, managers and operators of research and test reactors as well as for companies dealing with nuclear fuel elements design and production, transport of radioactive materials and spent fuels, nuclear fuel reprocessing, radioactive waste management and disposal. Majority of the participants came from developed countries, Western Europe (France, Germany, Belgium), USA and Russia. Papers presented were divided in the following sessions: (1) International Topics and Education; (2) Fuel Development, Qualification, Fabrication and Licensing; (3) Reactor Operation; Fuel Safety and Core Conversion; (4) Spent Fuel Management, Back-end Options, Transportation. About 20 papers were shown in two poster sessions. The majority of posters shown were related to the topics of Sessions 3 and 4. It should be mentioned that five presented papers were related to transportation and packaging of the fresh 80% enriched fuel elements from research reactor RA (Vinca, Yugoslavia) that was returned to Russian Federation in summer 2002
