Description
The intermediate energy heavy ion collisions are helpful in studying the nuclear matter at extreme conditions of temperature and pressure, which can be correlated with the astrophysical happening like supernova explosion, neutron star etc. The primary cause of this intense investigation is the rich information associated with the emission of nuclear fragments of different masses. This is what is called multifragmentation. Experimental studies have shown that colliding nuclear matter can break into a large number of light mass fragments (LMF's) and intermediate mass fragments (IMFs) depending on the incident energy, mass of the system and impact parameter of the reaction. Several interesting features of multifragmentation were observed or predicted which includes a rise and/or fall in the fragment production with a change in the impact parameter and bombarding energy. In this paper, the aim is to pin down the role of momentum dependent interactions on fragmentation due to mass asymmetric collisions. To fulfill this aim, simulations of different asymmetric reactions 8O17+11Na23, 7N14+12Mg26, 5B10+14Si30, 3Li6+16S34 for total mass A= 40 (in each case) have been carried out at different beam energies between 50 and 600 MeV/nucleon at semi-central impact parameter within the framework of Isospin-dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics (IQMD) model
