Simplified computed tomography by two-direction transmission imaging using a flat-type "transXend" detector

  • 1. Kyoto University, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto (Japan)

Description

To overcome the high dose exposure of conventional X-ray computed tomography (CT), a simplified CT with using a "transcend" detector has been proposed. This method can reconstruct a tomographic image with only two-direction transmission measurements. To apply the method for the use of fan or cone beam X-rays, we use a flat panel detector with metal absorbers. The operation principle of the flat-type transcend detector and the detailed method of the simplified CT are explained in this paper. (author)
