5. Polish Conference on Crystal Growth has been held in Naleczow (Poland) in May 1998. The progress in crystal growth techniques as well as crystal characterization methods have been extensively presented and discussed. The crystals with new chemical compositions have been obtained and their physical properties described as a result of performed investigations. The conference merit has been divided into several sessions as following: invited lectures (review of state of art); oral presentations and four poster sessions on bulk crystals, thin and thick films, characterization of crystals and films, other topics
