Description

This paper examines the current situation and the improvements required in the field of detection and measurement of radiation and radioactivity, as well as the methods for measuring and assessing radiation doses in any situation where the risks of exposure to radiation are controlled: installations (work stations and radioactive releases), the environment, worker and public exposure. The analysis of the situation encompasses the instrumentation (detectors), the operational techniques, and the analytical codes, and reviews their performance under both normal working and emergency conditions.
