CERN's 25 years in the field of physics Pt. 1

  • 1. European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva (Switzerland)

Description

After a short review of the history of CERN a brief description of the main accelerators, beams, targets and detectors used and developed at CERN is given. The results achieved in the study of nuclear and intermediate energy phenomena (double β decay, exotic atoms, hypernuclei) are reviewed. The discoveries made in hadron spectroscopy using bubble chamber generations developed at CERN are also given. (P.L.)
