Nuclear physics: challenges and opportunities

Study of the structure and dynamics of nuclei under a wide variety of conditions in the laboratory and in the cosmos and the forces which govern its behaviour, undoubtedly continues to be a frontier area of basic research. Important applications of nuclear physics in the areas of nuclear energy and applications of the radioisotopes and the increased knowledge the nucleus and its behaviour under different external conditions, has increased the ability to manipulate it further for several applications for the benefit of the society
